Solis Rough is the Executive Director of S&RAP, LLC. ROUGH HOUSE. With nearly 40 years clean and sober and responsible for the daily operations of the home, ROUGH HOUSE is uniquely positioned to offer something most homes in Austin aren’t able to - Direct Long Term experience and a living demonstration of what a clean and sober life looks like.

Originally from Sacramento, Solis has lived in the Austin Texas area for nearly 20 years. He’s been married to Co-Founder and Operations Director, Rob Rough for over 35 years. Together they founded ROUGH HOUSE for the purpose of doing something truly extraordinary in the Austin Texas market of sober living offerings.

Solis' experience includes years of development working with younger people in a counseling capacity as well as developing educational programs to improve communication, conflict resolution, professional development and more. Formerly a graduate of catering school, part of the weekly ROUGH HOUSE meeting will include cooking classes to help residents take steps towards independent living.

Solis is a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He served for 12 years in an aircraft squadron and achieved the rank of 1st Class, Leading Petty Officer. He was also decorated with three Good Conduct medals, the Navy Achievement Medal (highest distinction for personal achievement) and the National Defense Service medal for his participation in the Gulf War.

Solis is retired from the University of California where he was the Director of a student resource office in the Cross-Cultural Center advocating for all students to develop intercultural awareness and competency. 

He is also retired from the University of Texas where he worked nearly two decades in the Counseling and Mental Health Center, a division of University Health Services, as an Associate Director providing support to nearly 100 counselors, the Clinical Director and Chief of Psychiatry.

Lastly, he speaks at conferences across America and Canada, with over 75 speaking engagements in his experience. Solis loves and collects classic cars. He’s an award winning Toastmaster speaker and you might find him at a local storytelling event or competition. Or, maybe anywhere they are singing karaoke.
