Solis Rough is the Coach and Executive Director of S&RAP, LLC. ROUGH HOUSE. With nearly 40 years clean and sober, an award-winning Toastmaster, and an experienced public speaker, he is uniquely positioned to offer insights that some coaches may not.
Originally from Sacramento, Solis has lived in the Austin, Texas area for 20 years. He’s been married to Co-Founder and Operations Director, Rob Rough, for over 36 years. Together, they founded ROUGH HOUSE to do something truly extraordinary.
Solis' experience includes years of professional coaching work with people and developing educational programs to improve communication, conflict resolution, professional development, relationship-building, and more. Formerly a director in the Cross-Cultural Center at the University of California, Davis, in Student Affairs, Solis helped students with their intercultural education and improved their competency in career development and personal relationships. Additionally, Solis served as an assistant to the Director of the Counseling & Mental Health Center and to the Chief of Psychiatry at the University of Texas at Austin. He has retired from both institutions.
Solis is a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He served for 12 years in an aircraft squadron and achieved the rank of 1st Class, Leading Petty Officer. He was also decorated with three Good Conduct medals, the Navy Achievement Medal (highest distinction for personal achievement), and the National Defense Service medal for his participation in the Gulf War.
Lastly, he speaks at conferences across America and Canada, with over 75 speaking engagements to date. Solis loves and collects classic cars. He’s an award-winning Toastmaster speaker and a developed storyteller. You might find him at a local storytelling event or competition. Or, maybe anywhere they are singing karaoke.
